Aaron visits his stepmother, Sandra, and is confused when Liv answers the door until Sandra introduces Liv as Aaron's half-sister. Liv takes a liking to Aaron until she witnesses him hurting Sandra and later visits Aaron and his mother Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) to find out what Sandra is not telling her. Aaron tries to explain to Liv that he was sexually abused by their father as a child, but she believes he is lying and is collected by Sandra. Liv finds Gordon's address on Chas' mobile phone and visits him, where Gordon gives Liv his mother's necklace. Liv apologises to Aaron when he arrives to take her away, but it transpires she believes Gordon over Aaron and wants to prove his innocence. Liv later arrives to the village to stay with Chas and Aaron for a while. Liv tries to con Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) at the local shop, but David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) witnesses her doing this and confronts her. She threatens to report David for assault and throws fruit at Jacob and David until Aaron arrives and he pays for her damage.
Liv later meets with Gordon and he reveals that Ryan Harred (George Sampson) was paid to be an invented sexual abuse victim and Liv records a conversation that Robert and Aaron have about Ryan. When Liv overhears Aaron saying how he wants to be a proper brother to Liv, and is given a tablet from Gordon, Liv tells Gordon that she believes Aaron and not him. However, Aaron discovers Liv has been in contact with Gordon and tells her to leave. At the trial, Liv testifies for Gordon and is positive about him until she decides to tell the truth and admit she believes Aaron is telling the truth. When she is caught shoplifting, Liv is brought to The Woolpack and she admits that Sandra is struggling so Aaron and Chas ask Liv to stay with them. Sandra reveals that she and Liv are moving to Dublin, but Liv decides to move in with Aaron. Liv befriends Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), but they fall out. Liv is upset when Aaron does not tell her about Gordon's sentencing and secretly attends, where he is sentenced to 18 years imprisonment. Liv is devastated when she is informed of Gordon's suicide and is left £250,000 and Gordon's house in his will. Despite deciding not to claim the money, she is persuaded to claim it and Liv and Gabby arrange a party at Gordon's house, which is shut down by Chas and Gabby's mother, Bernice White (Samantha Giles).
Liv meets Ryan and offers him £50,000 to report Robert to the police, which he agrees to. Robert and Liv have a heart-to-heart which makes Liv regret her decision, but it is too late and Robert is arrested. When Liv confesses what happened to Aaron, she runs away but is found by Robert who discovers that Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) is responsible for cyberbullying Liv. When Aaron and Robert separate, Liv reconciles them. Liv is upset with Chas when she gives Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) and Lisa Dingle (Jane Cox) some of her inheritance to get Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) into a private mental health unit, presuming she wouldn't agree. Liv causes trouble for Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) and Pierce Harris' (Jonathan Wrather) relationship by sending Rhona flowers from her ex-husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt). Pierce confronts Liv and she compares Pierce to Gordon. Liv and Gabby steal alcohol and skip school to get drunk. Gabby streaks and Liv films it and uploads the video. Bernice reports Liv's actions and the video is removed from social media. Liv celebrates her birthday on her own with alcohol, whilst her family celebrate Lisa's. Liv lets slip about her birthday, after a row with Chas and Aaron over her stealing the alcohol. Liv visits Aaron in prison and is angry to learn he on drugs and admits it to Robert. Liv is suspended from school for hitting a classmate, so Robert decides to homeschool her. Chas and Liv go to Ireland when they find out that Sandra is in hospital on life support.
Liv returns to Emmerdale after leaving Ireland with no one knowing and confronts Aaron over him and Robert splitting up. Aaron tells Liv that Robert is having a baby with Rebecca White (Emily Head), the reason for their split. Liv confronts Robert and Rebecca over what has happened. Robert tells Liv he regrets his actions and still loves Aaron, which Liv attempts to tell Aaron. Liv tells Rebecca that Robert loves Aaron and hates both Rebecca and the baby, which Robert denies. Liv drinks alcohol belonging to Rebecca's father, Lawrence White (John Bowe), that Robert has spiked and scratches Robert's car. Robert finds Liv passed out in the woods and is rushed to hospital. Aaron is furious with Robert for spiking alcohol with diazepam. Liv wakes up and tells Aaron that Robert taking back what he said in front of Rebecca prompted her to drink, but she did not drink much and Aaron threatens Robert with the police and orders him to stay away. Aaron tells Liv that there was diazepam in the alcohol, but asks her not to tell social services, which Liv does. Liv steals Dr Alex Mason's (Steven Flynn) phone to set Aaron up with him. Whilst Aaron is away, Liv stays with Lisa and Zak. Liv and Gabby drink alcohol with Gerry Roberts (Shaun Thomas) and Zak and Lisa are infuriated at finding Liv passed out and Gerry half-dressed. Liv admits to Belle she has no feelings for boys nor girls. When Zak and Sam try to force Gerry to confess to what they believe he did to Liv, but Liv defends Gerry and insists nothing happened. Liv hates Robert's presence and to prevent Aaron getting back together, she sets him up with Alex and is pleased when Aaron and Alex become a couple. On Valentine's Day, Liv arranges to meet Jacob at the pavilion on Gabby's behalf and Liv tells Gabby that she is asexual, but kisses Gabby to ensure she is not lesbian. Gabby is infuriated with Liv when she witnesses Jacob and Liv hugging and on her 16th birthday, Gabby gives Liv a henna tattoo and at her party, it is revealed the tattoo says skank. Gabby angrily tells everyone that Liv stole Jacob off her and kissed her. Liv refuses to forgive Gabby, but make up after a fight. For a party, Gabby gets Liv to steal vodka from the pub when she fails to blackmail some out of Daz, who tells Bernice about Gabby and alcohol. Gabby takes ketamine from Vanessa Woodfield's (Michelle Hardwick) bag and Gabby encourages Liv to spike Daz's drink when he talks negatively about Liv, however, Lisa Dingle (Jane Cox) has the drink and suffers a heart attack. Gabby takes responsibility for spiking the drink when the police turn up at the hospital and she is arrested and charged with theft and administering a noxious substance. Liv admits to Aaron she was responsible for spiking Lisa's drink, but Aaron warns her to keep quiet, but when Gabby is caught by her family writing a message to Liv, she admits Liv was involved, but will not implicate her. Liv confesses to Lisa to being responsible for spiking the drink and Lisa calls the police on Liv, which disgusts the family as Liv is arrested and charged, but Gabby still is charged with theft. Lisa decides to retract her statement when she bandages Liv's hand, which she accidentally hurt with a broken alcohol bottle, but Liv is still going to be charged.
