Emmerdale's Robert Sugden could be sent to prison for beating up newcomer Billy FletcherBut was it really him?
Tonight's episode of Emmerdale (December 27) revealed that is was, in fact, Robert Sugden who beat up newcomer Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) just 24 hours after he made his surprise visit to the village.
Last night's scenes saw Aaron Dingle far from happy to see Billy out of prison, giving him a warning shove within seconds of spotting him at the wedding reception.
That naturally led viewers to believe that Aaron was the one behind Billy's beating, but it was Robert who confessed, and he now faces going to prison for GBH.
That is unless Billy drops the charges.
However, some viewers were left thinking that Robert may in fact just be covering for Aaron.
One viewer tweeted: "I still don't think it was Robert, though. I think he did it was him because he knew the police would pin it on Aaron!"
While another wrote: "It wasn't Robert, he's not the type to get his hands dirty. If anything he would hire someone to do it."
Will Robert end up going to prison, or will Billy drop the charges?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
