Emmerdale star Olivia Bromley expects "a bit of hate" from fans over Dawn and Will's scheme

Poor Harriet.

Emmerdale star Olivia Bromley has admitted that her character Dawn Taylor could face a backlash from viewers as she continues to help her father Will with his revenge.

Recent episodes have shown that Dawn is in cahoots with her dad Will (Dean Andrews), who's stalking Harriet Finch in an evil revenge plan.

Dawn has deliberately grown closer to Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) over the past few months in order to do Will's dirty work – even lying that he's dead to throw her off the track.

Speaking about the possibility of Emmerdale fans turning against Dawn, Olivia admitted: "They probably will. But that doesn't bother me as an actor, because I think it's fun to play these parts where you're not always going to be popular.

"A real character has these flaws and Dawn is a really complicated character. What's been really nice about what I've done so far is that when I came in, Dawn wasn't exactly likeable. She was hard, she was a heroin addict and people weren't sure of her.

"She was also involved with Ross, who is a very popular character and she was dragging him down a bit. Then people were slowly starting to warm to her, which has been really nice because it's been a little bit less judgemental.

"Now I'm sure there will be a bit of hate! But it's real stories and no-one's perfect."

Next week's episodes will see Dawn start to have second thoughts over the way Will is treating Harriet, fearing that it's going too far.

When Will challenges Dawn to prove her loyalty as her doubts become clear, she's shocked by his latest demand.

Olivia continued: "Dawn is torn throughout the whole thing, really, but her loyalty is with her father. She has held to that while he's been in prison.

"The whole reason that she came back to the village was to get revenge on Harriet, so the whole way through, she has had this nagging feeling.

"But I don't think she expected to connect with Harriet in the way she did. Especially there is the issue with her son, because Harriet can help her out in that way. Harriet has been so good to her that Dawn has realised: 'I'm not the one who wants this revenge, it's my dad'."

Olivia also predicted that Harriet's reaction will be one to watch when she inevitably discovers Dawn's betrayal.

She said: "The extent of the deceit is quite far. It coming out would be a bit shattering for Harriet because Dawn has been trying so, so hard to build this relationship up to get Lucas back. So it could turn really nasty."
