Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick engaged to producer Kate Brooks

Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick has announced her engagement to the soap's producer Kate Brooks.

Michelle, who plays Vanessa Woodfield in the series, announced the happy news to fans on Twitter.

Sharing a photo of the pair holding wine glasses, Michelle wrote: "So after months of planning, I popped the question!!! She said yes!!! #loveislove #noordinaryproposal @katebrooks"

It's been an exciting year for Kate, both personally and professionally, as she was prtomoted from assistant producer to joint producer with Laura Shaw when Kate Oates left Emmerdale in April 2018.

Michelle and Kate went public with their relationship in October, with the actress sharing a photo of them on National Coming Out Day and writing: "It will all work out in the end #behappy #nationalcomingoutday #loveislove @thekatebrooks".

Michelle was previously married to Rosie Nicholl, but in February 2017, she revealed the couple had split.

"It was one of those unfortunate things where we did drift apart. We had the big fairytale wedding and I still love that day, it was brilliant. It's just really sad and one of those things that happens," Michelle explained.

"We still have our dogs which we'll share and nobody else was involved, it just happened and it was a mutual decision. I don't know how else to explain it. I grew out of love and she became more like my best friend."
