BELLE OF THE BALL Emmerdale’s Jamie Tate will fall for Belle Dingle on return to soap says Kim Tate actress Claire King

The actress is set to welcome her on-screen son in the coming days

EMMERDALE star Claire King has teased that there will be a blossoming romance between her on-screen son Jamie Tate and Belle Dingle.

The actress plays Kim Tate on the ITV soap and is set to welcome Jamie, played by Alexander Lincoln, in the coming days, two decades since the character was last portrayed on the show.

Speaking about Jamie’s impending arrival to the Dales, Claire hinted that Belle, played by Eden Taylor-Draper, has a thing for him.

She coyly told Digital Spy: “Belle has got a little interest in him.”

The comments come after we revealed that Jamie is left horrified to see his mum Kim in Emmerdale village when he is tricked into moving there.

In his first interview since joining the soap, actor Alexander has revealed his character won’t be happy when he realises his evil mother Kim has manipulated him into moving to the village.

Alexander said: “The job vacancy came up and he saw an opportunity and wanted to go. And he thought Kim was in prison so it seemed like a great opportunity and then it turns out…

“He doesn’t expect to see her at all, thinks she’s still in prison. Under the circumstances it’s pure shock a bit of frustration as he wanted to start a new life, admittedly back in the village, but stay away from Kim’s ways.”

Alexander added: “Jamie is in his last year of vets school and he’s estranged from his more.

“He’s more innocent and naive than Kim and really doesn’t want anything to do with her.”

Jamie is horrified when he sees his mother is in the village and orchestrated his return.

And unlike his on-the-run nephew Joe, Jamie has no relationship with Kim’s right-hand man Graham Foster.

Alexander added: “Jamie sees him as an extension of Kim. He’s just a paid-for butler, there is no real relationship there. No love lost.”

But the actor, who is making his television debut as Jamie, is definitely happy to be considered the show’s new eye candy.

He added: “I didn’t know it would be [the village hunk] I didn’t even know that was a possibility.

“I mean yeah, it’s great. I’ll take it, that’s fine, absolutely. I’ve got a lot to live up to I think buy yeah it’s great, good feeling.”
