8 huge Emmerdale spoilers for the show's life-changing Big Night Out week
It's the episodes we won't want to miss.
High drama hits Emmerdale next week as several huge storylines take centre stage in a special set of episodes.
The ITV soap is currently running trailers for its Big Night Out storyline, which will be told in two separate parts as the show plays with time (and messes with our minds) once again.
We've brought you plenty of gossip on the episodes already this week, but for those who like all of their spoilers in one place, look no further.
1. The concept
Emmerdale bosses are straying from their usual linear storytelling style for the Big Night Out, which will kick off in a double bill of episodes next Thursday (April 25).
While we're sure to see our fair share of drama in these episodes, we'll be left with plenty of unresolved questions too, with show chiefs promising "huge revelations and unexplained outcomes". In short, nobody – especially not viewers – will be sure of exactly what happened on that fateful night.
The week after the night out (Monday April 29 onward) sees Emmerdale's focus shift slightly to other storylines. Don't worry, though – the week commencing Monday, May 6 will provide the answers that viewers need as some special flashback episodes fill in the blanks over events at the club.
2. Thirteen regular characters will take centre stage
The characters who head off to the nightclub in nearby town Hotten have been confirmed as Leyla, Priya, David, Tracy, Maya, Kerry, Rhona, Victoria, Ellis, Aaron, Robert and Bernice.
We know Jacob will be featuring in the episodes too, since he has a large role to play in proceedings as they develop.
3. David is left heartbroken
The night out isn't an occasion to celebrate as far as David is concerned. When Maya gets wind of his plans to propose to her using Val's ring – which Jacob has secretly stolen to meet Liv's blackmail demands – she realises she'll need to take control of the situation by letting her partner down gently.
Maya encourages David not to propose, leaving him crushed by her hot-and-cold attitude. When he confides in ex-wife Tracy about the situation, she insists that Maya isn't right for him and they share a surprise kiss.
Although both pull away and realise that it was a mistake, it's already too late as malicious Maya has seen everything…
4. Maya's downfall finally begins
After lashing out at David and Tracy for their betrayal, Maya turns back to her disturbing relationship with Jacob Gallagher to make herself feel better. This time, she takes a risk too far and one of the female villagers catches her with Jacob.
Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy, has revealed that this character then spreads the word to the rest of the partygoers. Louisa Clein, who plays Maya, also confirmed that the predatory schoolteacher will face "an unbelievable fury" as everyone reacts to the shocking truth.
Louisa added: "Suddenly the reality of it all coming out triggers pure fear, panic and self-defence. Being caught in this way means there is no going back. But it's how Maya deals with that.
"Is she someone that's going to run away and hide from it? Is she someone that's going to confront it and try and defend herself? Is she going to get that opportunity? It's all to play for still."
5. Ellis is in danger
When Ellis heads out into town with the others, he's unaware that gangster Max is secretly following him. Max wants revenge after Ellis sabotages his planned robbery with Billy – and the lengths he'll go to could leave a life hanging in the balance.
It's been revealed that Billy receives a sinister picture message from Max, which shows Ellis at the club. It's a clear threat to Ellis's safety, but how far will Billy go to protect his brother as he rushes to the scene?
Jay Kontzle, who plays Billy, revealed: "Billy's life will definitely be altered by the nightclub. It will be life changing and it opens him up as a person because there are a lot of things that he's been hiding about his personality."
6. Rhona meets a handsome stranger
Could Rhona be about to cheat on Pete after weeks of problems in their relationship? Emmerdale certainly seems to be dropping some pretty big hints that suggest so.
Following another argument with Pete, a stressed-out Rhona decides to let her hair down with the other villagers and enjoys one too many drinks. When she meets a handsome stranger, could her recent romance troubles drive her to do something she'll later regret?
Staying coy, Zoe Henry – who plays Rhona — said: "She does have a great night. She ends up hanging out with Bernice and Kerry. They have an absolute scream and they meet some other people and it kind of goes on from there."
7. Someone is stabbed
When details of the Big Night Out storyline first leaked in the tabloids, one unconfirmed spoiler suggested that a character will be stabbed as part of the dramatic scenes.
Fans have speculated that this would seem to fit best with the Billy/Ellis/Max storyline, although nothing is confirmed just yet. Could this plot turn very nasty or will one of the other stories of the week have an unexpectedly violent outcome?
8. Victoria's rape ordeal
Another storyline leaked in the papers has suggested that Victoria will be raped on the night out. Although this hasn't yet been confirmed officially by the show, a quote from Isabel Hodgins about her character's role in the episodes does offer a strong hint that the rumours are true.
When the fire alarm sounds at the club and the bouncers order for everyone to evacuate, Victoria struggles to locate her friends outside amid all the confusion.
Isabel explained: "Once at the club, as ever, Victoria and Ellis are playing cat and mouse by flirting with other people. It’s silly really as they do like each other.
"She is really enjoying partying with Amy, as it's been such a long time since they've been out on the town together. At the point when the fire alarm goes off, she is having a great time. Then it all changes.
"Once the fire alarm has sounded, it is safe to say that all is not as it seems and Victoria's life will change forever as a result of going to the nightclub. The events will have a massive and long-lasting impact on not only Victoria, but her family too."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
